Islands Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli

Airport and transport – ferry to Trogir (from Drvenik Mali 8 NM, and Drvenik Veli 7 NM); airport Split (from Trogir; 6 km).

History – traces of life from Bronze Age; islands inhabited from 15th century.

Interesting to see: church of St. Juraj (located at Drvenik Veli from 16th century).

Info – a distance between the islands is only 0.5 NM (around 2 km) where Islet Malta is situated; islands are overgrown with Mediterranean vegetation and with planted olive trees;

Island Drvenik Mali (inhabited; around 50 people; no roads and cars are forbidden; highest peak is Glavica, 79m; encircled with beautiful sand beaches);

Island Drvenik Veli (inhabited; highest peak is Buhaj, 178m; coastline of 23.9 km is well indented with sandy and pebbles beaches).

For sailors:

Island Drvenik Mali:

(Island Drvenik Mali) Borak: exposed to bora and E winds. Berth: along the S side of the breakwater (in the shape of the letter L) and toward the N until the half of the breakwater. Shallow: in all other places in the port (that are not mention for berth; depths up to 1 m). Warning: ferry is docking along the long mole (with red/white light on the head); during the E winds appears the current from NW direction.

(Island Drvenik Mali) Vela Rina (S side of the island): exposed to jugo and mistral; sheltered from bora. Mooring: about 0.5 km W from the cape Kalfat; (for smaller vessels) nearer to the E coast of the bay. Warning: S and SW winds cause waves (recommendation: on the first sign of wind, the bay should be left immediately).

Island Drvenik Veli:

(Island Drvenik Veli) Drvenik Veli (N side of the island): sheltered from all winds. Berth: along the pier on the E cost of the bay. Mooring: on the middle of the bay (warning: the sandy bottom hides stony slabs where anchor just lies down); (smaller vessels) in the bay Grabule (are sheltered from all winds).

(Island Drvenik Veli) Krknjaši: exposed to the winds of the II and III quadrant; sheltered from all other winds. Berth: along few smaller moles (in the bay; on the head of the middle and S mole, depths are around 3 m). Mooring: on the middle of the bay (sandy bottom; holds well). Shallows: on both side of the N mole.

(Island Drvenik Veli) Mala Luka: exposed to NW; sheltered from all other winds. Mooring: on the middle of the S or E branch of the cove (depth around 5 m; grassy bottom).

(Island Drvenik Veli) Solinska (S side of the island): Mooring: (smaller vessels) in the bay (only during the bora and good weather).
