Many would say it is one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia and we fully agree. Vis is a small unique island full of life and rich in history. The colony ISSA was founded in the 4th century BC , Vis was also under Venice and that is very well recognizable in architecture and vocabulary which is very interesting to listen to and often hard to understand for Croatians even.

This island was closed for foreigners due to being used as a naval base and opened for visitors in 1989 and most certainly sometimes feel like it has stopped in time. While on Vis we recommend visiting the Blue Cave, a natural phenomenon. You enter with a small boat and simply enjoy the illuminated interior of the cave and the sea. Not to mention Stiniva Beach awarded as the top beach in 2016, a small hard to reach beach but with crystal clear water and a great destination for a private boat picnic in the evening. A small town of Komiža will absolutely steal your heart. Primarily a fishing village with stone streets and 17th and 189th century lined up stone town houses is perfect for a day trip. The island is known for producing some of the most exclusive wines in Croatia, Vugava and Plavac and most definitely known for great gastronomy.

Vis has also become famous as being a filming location for the world known musical Mamma Mia!!
