Welcome to the island of Mljet,
a place filled with forests, olive trees and vineyards ideal for an active vacation during which you are free to explore each corner of this poetical island. Mentioned in 4th century B.C. in Greek chronicles and still to this day you are able to find reef amphora’s and their sunken ships near the coast of Mljet. The west part of the island was declared in 1960 as a National Park and main reasons are lush flora and valuable cultural heritage including many fortresses, Roman palace, two inland salty lakes, a couple of villages, a Benedictine monastery on the island of St. Mary and a beautiful natural anchorage in Polače. Some say that the poet Homer while describing the island Ogygia, the nymph Calypso and the Odyssey had Mljet in mind so one of the most attractive places to visit would be the Odyssey cave which you can enter only in a small boat. Mljet also has a rich gastronomic offer in which you will find an abundance of fish, freshly caught eel and goat’s cheese which has a special flavor due to the herd nutrition across the steep cliffs rich in herbs.
